Our Location & Its History

 

We spent 11 months breathing life back into this amazing building.  Seaford is full of rich history and this building is no different.  While respecting its past, every effort was made to showcase its craftsmanship and the warmth that makes you want to come inside and stay!  Warm and welcoming; modern yet historic!    

Built in 1911 by the Masons (Hiram Lodge 21), this building has seen this town’s past firsthand!  This 2-story brick building was erected when High Street was just a dirt road and the most common mode of transportation were horses and the railroad.

For over 100 years, this building’s tenants have invested in the betterment of the community and always looked towards the future.  Sam Stein opened his shop upon completion of the building in 1912.  Mr. Stein was a mason, a businessman, and community leader, an integral part in making the existence of this building a reality.  They later named the main road though town after him for his contributions to Seaford, Stein Highway!

In 1958, after realizing the need for a full facility, Seaford Police Department took up residence in the basement. Outfitting that space as Seaford’s first full police department and jail, Chief Norman Griffith watched over the town and its residence.  Pioneering new methods of policing, Seaford’s Police Department was one of the first to utilize fingerprinting!
